Blood Doctrine is a fast-paced suspense thriller from author Christian Piatt with rich scientific and theological overtones. Inspired by a combination of the interest in the so-called “Jesus tomb” in Jerusalem and groundbreaking possibilities involving evolutionary genetics, the question is posed:

What if, through modern science, we had the power to bring Jesus back to life?

In general, members of the scientific and religious camps struggle with schisms based upon basic ideology. However, there are those who believe that the human intellect has given rise to both science and religion, and that somewhere between the two lies a reality that has the potential to expose both the best and worst of human nature.

Blood Doctrine explores such issues as human cloning, the nature and power of faith, and the controversies surrounding humanity’s longing to control the essence of life itself. Blood Doctrine interweaves three stories that converge at the climax of the novel, spanning millennia and thousands of miles. The voice is rich in dialogue and rapidly paced from the beginning, revealing layer upon layer of mystery and suspense as the chapters swiftly progress.

Though the premise of Blood Doctrine may challenge the comfort levels of some who consider science and religion to stand in contradiction to one another, the subject approaches this potential controversy with respect and a basis in real history, science, philosophy and cutting-edge contemporary social issues.
